It looks like we are good to go for tomorrow! Kids who turned in a consent form should have received a call Tuesday night with the details.
If you were hoping to participate but haven't gotten a chance to fill anything out, just give one of us a call tomorrow at 254-6028 (Tim) or 254-3995 (Carissa)--preferably before noon. We can give you the details then.
Otherwise we can't wait to see you at the American Creek Campground fishing pier tomorrow!

Last week of summer rec!
Welcome to the final week of our summer rec program! There have been a few changes to our initial schedule from early June, and we are therefore having to end a week earlier than we had hoped. But we still will be having two days this week! (The schedule says a Monday and Tuesday activity, but these were inadvertently marked on the calendar handed out.)
On WEDNESDAY, August 1, we will be out on the river with special guest driver Jim Bregel. We have a few more people signed up for this day than there is room on the boat, and we will therefore have to go out in one-hour turns. All kids need to have a form filled out by a parent/guardian before participating in this event, so please let us know if you need one. We will have them with us that day.
Students should bring a life jacket if possible. Jim has some, but not all sizes. If you have extra, feel free to bring some. There will be a special post tomorrow or Tuesday with the final details of this event. (The weather plays a factor in our location.)
On Thursday, August 2, we will meet for the last time at 3:30. Have the kids ready to get wet, eat, expend energy and have fun!
We look forward to seeing you this week!
Tim and Carissa

Rest of the July events!
Here is our schedule for the rest of July (plus August 1).
This week, we will meet on Thursday, July 26 in the parish hall at 3:30. We will be having a pizza party! Kids should bring something to drink and their favorite apron from home. (Let us know via a blog response or phone call if there are any dietary restrictions.)
On Wednesday, August 1, we will be going out on the river for some tubing and water-skiing! In order to participate in this event, students need to have a form filled out by their parent/guardian(s) and RSVP to the event. We will have forms with us on the 26th, and we will also have these in the east entrance of the church. We have some life-jackets available, but you can bring your own if you have one. To RSVP, students should let us know on the 26th, or we can receive a phone call anytime at 254-3995 or 254-6028.
More details to come, and we look forward to having a lot of fun!

July Youth Dates
The dates for this week are Wednesday, July 18 and Friday, July 20. Some items that you can bring this week include a t-shirt that you wouldn't mind doing an "extreme makeover" to. We will definitely be inside this week with the temperatures expected to be so high, so please be bringing water or other things with you to drink!
And as a heads up--the scheduled date for July 27 is being cancelled due to another event taking place in the church. Stay tuned to this site for the next event after this week.

July 9 to 13 Week
Sorry we can get a little late on our posts, we work over the weekend sometimes and it doesn't get done right away. You can plan to go at 3:30 again both days this week, Monday the 9th and Wednesday the 11th.
Monday you are encouraged to bring a snack--we will be watching a movie and finishing up from last week.
On Wednesday we would like you to bring an old t-shirt--something you wouldn't mind cutting up a little bit.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Summer Rec Week of July 4
Sorry for the late post! We were out of town and had no internet access until now! We will be inside Tuesday and Thursday afternoon at 3:30 to avoid the heat working on a little project. Kids can have clothes that they don't mind getting messy. Please remember to bring something to drink to stay cool!
See you at the church on Tuesday and Thursday!

No Summer Rec This Week!
Due to many of our youth participating in Totus Tuus this week, we will not be holding our two scheduled summer rec program dates. We do encourage everyone to participate in Totus Tuus this week, as it will be well worth the time.
We will continue with our summer rec program the following week, July 1st to July 6th. Stay tuned to this web site for more details.
If anyone will be gone over the fourth, please let us know by replying to our blog or calling us at 254-3995. Thanks!

Events for June 18 to June 22
We are meeting two times this week, on Thursday and Friday (we are in Sioux Falls Monday through Wednesday for appointments for our kids at the hospital).
For Thursday, June 21 kids can wear normal attire, but should try to bring a digital camera if they have access to one. We will meet at 3:30.
For Friday, June 22 we will be having a movie night at a special time, 7:00 pm. The kids are encouraged to bring some snacks with them. We hope to be done around 9:00 that evening.
For future meetings, we'd like to remind the kids that they can bring something to snack on and possibly a bottle of water with them. Sometimes we expend a lot of energy or spend time in the heat, and want them to be comfortable. Also, remember the program runs anywhere from 1.5 hours to 2 hours, depending on our activities for the day. If a different length of time is required, we will try to let you know on here.
Thanks, and we hope that you are enjoying the program so far this summer!

Events for the week of June 11-June15
We will have 3 events with the youth for this week since we only started off with one last week. The first of the three days is Tuesday in the parish hall at 3:30. We will be doing a project inside, so come as you are. On Wednesday, there is a possibility of going outside as well as staying inside, please have the appropriate clothing and footwear just in case! Friday we will be going outside as long as it doesn't storm out. More details to those who come this week, but you probably should bring something you don't mind getting wet, and maybe a towel.
To recap:Tuesday June 12, Wednesday June 13, and Friday June 15 at 3:30--meet in the parish hall. Events should last until 5:15 to 5:30.
We'd also like to remind you that students should consider bringing anything with them you feel they might need, as the summer months will get hot. For example, they can bring a bottle of water to our events--but luckily we do have air conditioning available!
We hope to see you this week, and please invite any of your friends from the church to come along!

Friday's First Gathering Details
Our first gathering this summer will take place on Friday, June 8th at 3:30 in the afternoon. We know it is not the perfect time for everyone, but we hope as many people as possible can make it! At this first meeting Carissa and Tim will be doing some games to get to know the kids better, and we will be having some treats. Hope to see you there!

Welcome to Summer Rec!
Hi! We are Tim and Carissa, and we are the Baustians! Relax, this is not just
another one of those messages from the bishop or anyone asking for money. It’s
actually a message for the youth of the parish—but parents, please keep
listening!
This message is to let you know about the summer youth recreation program for St. James and Anthony parishes. First of all, this is NOT an extension of the religious education program. It is its own separate entity, allowing for the youth of our parishes to remain active during the summer months in a fun, caring, and structured environment.
What will we be doing this summer you might ask? The real answer is that it depends—we need lots of participants to do some of our activities, but not as many to do some others. That’s why we want to give you a sneak preview of what you should expect to see this summer.
There will be:
-Outdoor activities, indoor activities (Boating to baking)
-Active activities, laid back activities (Capture the flag to watching movies)
-Games to crafts (Extreme BINGO to creating photobooks)
-Sports to art (Wiffleball to drawing)
-Anything and everything in between!
We really hope that the youth of our parishes decide to join us this summer! We promise that you can expect to have fun and rather be here than at home stuck to the couch.
Who can participate in the summer youth program? Any members of St. James and Anthony parishes grades 5-8 starting this fall. However, we won’t turn away anyone that will be in high school or older from participating or simply volunteering to help us out.
When will the program be meeting? Currently plans are to meet 2-3 times a week. We currently plan to do two days and one night activity at least every other week. The days most commonly used for the program will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and we intend to meet during the late morning hours or afternoon. Our first activity will take place in the evening on Friday, June 8th. Look for details online (read below).
To sign up for the program, please go to the following website and fill out the appropriate information. Then, tell your friends and other parents to get more students to sign up for the summer program! This website will be the source of future dates, activities, and other important information for your reference. http://stjamesstanthonysummerrec.blogspot.com/
