Due to many of our youth participating in Totus Tuus this week, we will not be holding our two scheduled summer rec program dates. We do encourage everyone to participate in Totus Tuus this week, as it will be well worth the time.
We will continue with our summer rec program the following week, July 1st to July 6th. Stay tuned to this web site for more details.
If anyone will be gone over the fourth, please let us know by replying to our blog or calling us at 254-3995. Thanks!
Tim and Carissa

Events for June 18 to June 22
We are meeting two times this week, on Thursday and Friday (we are in Sioux Falls Monday through Wednesday for appointments for our kids at the hospital).
For Thursday, June 21 kids can wear normal attire, but should try to bring a digital camera if they have access to one. We will meet at 3:30.
For Friday, June 22 we will be having a movie night at a special time, 7:00 pm. The kids are encouraged to bring some snacks with them. We hope to be done around 9:00 that evening.
For future meetings, we'd like to remind the kids that they can bring something to snack on and possibly a bottle of water with them. Sometimes we expend a lot of energy or spend time in the heat, and want them to be comfortable. Also, remember the program runs anywhere from 1.5 hours to 2 hours, depending on our activities for the day. If a different length of time is required, we will try to let you know on here.
Thanks, and we hope that you are enjoying the program so far this summer!

Events for the week of June 11-June15
We will have 3 events with the youth for this week since we only started off with one last week. The first of the three days is Tuesday in the parish hall at 3:30. We will be doing a project inside, so come as you are. On Wednesday, there is a possibility of going outside as well as staying inside, please have the appropriate clothing and footwear just in case! Friday we will be going outside as long as it doesn't storm out. More details to those who come this week, but you probably should bring something you don't mind getting wet, and maybe a towel.
To recap:Tuesday June 12, Wednesday June 13, and Friday June 15 at 3:30--meet in the parish hall. Events should last until 5:15 to 5:30.
We'd also like to remind you that students should consider bringing anything with them you feel they might need, as the summer months will get hot. For example, they can bring a bottle of water to our events--but luckily we do have air conditioning available!
We hope to see you this week, and please invite any of your friends from the church to come along!

Our first gathering this summer will take place on Friday, June 8th at 3:30 in the afternoon. We know it is not the perfect time for everyone, but we hope as many people as possible can make it! At this first meeting Carissa and Tim will be doing some games to get to know the kids better, and we will be having some treats. Hope to see you there!

Welcome to Summer Rec!
Hi! We are Tim and Carissa, and we are the Baustians! Relax, this is not just
another one of those messages from the bishop or anyone asking for money. It’s
actually a message for the youth of the parish—but parents, please keep
listening!
This message is to let you know about the summer youth recreation program for St. James and Anthony parishes. First of all, this is NOT an extension of the religious education program. It is its own separate entity, allowing for the youth of our parishes to remain active during the summer months in a fun, caring, and structured environment.
What will we be doing this summer you might ask? The real answer is that it depends—we need lots of participants to do some of our activities, but not as many to do some others. That’s why we want to give you a sneak preview of what you should expect to see this summer.
There will be:
-Outdoor activities, indoor activities (Boating to baking)
-Active activities, laid back activities (Capture the flag to watching movies)
-Games to crafts (Extreme BINGO to creating photobooks)
-Sports to art (Wiffleball to drawing)
-Anything and everything in between!
We really hope that the youth of our parishes decide to join us this summer! We promise that you can expect to have fun and rather be here than at home stuck to the couch.
Who can participate in the summer youth program? Any members of St. James and Anthony parishes grades 5-8 starting this fall. However, we won’t turn away anyone that will be in high school or older from participating or simply volunteering to help us out.
When will the program be meeting? Currently plans are to meet 2-3 times a week. We currently plan to do two days and one night activity at least every other week. The days most commonly used for the program will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and we intend to meet during the late morning hours or afternoon. Our first activity will take place in the evening on Friday, June 8th. Look for details online (read below).
To sign up for the program, please go to the following website and fill out the appropriate information. Then, tell your friends and other parents to get more students to sign up for the summer program! This website will be the source of future dates, activities, and other important information for your reference. http://stjamesstanthonysummerrec.blogspot.com/
Thank you very much, and we look forward to seeing you around this summer!
